If Carroll stays fit he’ll be an asset, always manages to score and plays his part in defensive set pieces.

Better than that cunt Perez anyway.

we successfully defended set plays today with Carroll onthe pitch ,the chances are we would not have conceeded 2 goals from setplays against Brighton the other night had he been there ,credit where credit is due ,he has limitations but we tend to be a better side defending when he is playing .

Carroll scored one and saved one off the line

He played his part

Carrol played a part in today's win, but if you can say we wouldn't have won without him, then I can say we would have buried the brum by more than 2-0, had Arnie been fit for the duration.

East end joker, agreed , nowhere near as bad as some claim but it’s the site way, there has to be a hate figure. Last season it was snodgrass , this season it was Anderson and then Antonio, we even had arnie for a while when he first came. Going by the moaners judgement on all those players, I think it’s safe to say Carroll was nowhere near as bad as some on here believe.

To be honest chaps today’s match was piss poor and was glad that Carroll actually did something useful and score the 2nd goal. IMO Birmingham were on the card to equalise. For me I changed seats for the cup game. It was 3 degrees and looking at the people around me none of which I regonised I dedicate “when will I see you again”. I wonder what sort of punter buys the “souvenir “scarf half and half. I also wonder where the female support has appeared from as they certainly were not at Upton Psrk.

You were close to the pitch? Were you a steward or something?

It’s a very decent result considering injuries and tiredness. These are the sort of games we used to lose.

But all the money has widened the gulf between PL and Championship. This obviously means we have more class and quality which makes the difference nowadays.

Carroll did alright today ,without him on the pitch we would not of won ,simple as that for all the knockers .

Re: West Ham v Birmingham - Official Match Thread
My first visit to the LS today . Game went flat after Arnie went off . Carroll is a championship player at best or Rangers / Celtic. Antonio seemed to be struggling with some kind of injury . Silva and Diangana showed flashes but a bit lightweight.
It all seemed a bit slow today . Should have really gone at them after scoring so early but Arnie going off stopped that .
I’ve seen a lot of negatives on here about getting to the stadium and being too far from the pitch . I would totally disagree from todays experience.

noble reckons the best player in training is perez, honest i saw it in an interview, reckons he has a lethal left foot, and super accurate, so work that out

Carroll scored, & cleared one off the line, won lots of headers in our box at 1-0 when they had dangerous corners.

Not really played much football ⚽️, but he is what he is and dunno why he gets a lot of stick on here.

Well maybe people want a bit more for the supposed 80-90k a week.... like I said that is a lot of money for one of our main strikers to be good defensively in our OWN box... he may not be fit but even when he is 100% fit he ain't the type of player that is suited to the way we are currently playing... he slows everything down... we had a break today and |i swear he appeared in the picture about 30 seconds later...he's the last piece of the BFS jigsaw and all the misery he heeped upon us... we've moved on from that cunt and his neanderthal football...

Re: West Ham v Birmingham - Official Match Thread
Mental that some people still defend Carroll.

Taking a fortune in wages, usually injured, the latest coming as a result of him going arse over tit sneaking back in into his hotel room after going out getting pissed up in pre season.

He's got no technical prowess whatsoever and cannot adapt to a setup which forces the rest of the team to adapt to his role, one that he doesn't even manage effectively anymore. For someone who is supposed to be this battering ram in the air he rarely wins a header.

Chucking him in against these shithouses in the 3rd round is one thing, but starting him in the PL is just depressing.

Other than that... good result!

Re: West Ham v Birmingham - Official Match Thread
In recent years we always seem to get one of Arsenal, United, Spurs, Chelsea, City away before we go that far in the competition but at least we did not fall in the 3rd round to a lower league team. We used to do that regularly once :-)

Nasri will move the ball around neatly and quickly but we are still crying out for a player that is strong, fast and athletic. A quicker stronger, better version of Obiang we can play in many games and give some help to Rice. Put another way, not Obiang :-)

2 better full backs too. Zab and Cresswell are ok but next season we will need better unless Fredericks can be developed to defend better?

Re: West Ham v Birmingham - Official Match Thread
Agreed with MP's lineup...
Nasri showed quality...lasted 59 minutes...
Silva promising...was quick and tried hard...
Diangana tricky...tenacious..created little...
Adrian Competent...
Defence/CBs below par...worryingly...
Rice outstanding...
Obiang OK...
Antonio biggest attacking threat...deserved a goal...
Arthur ok going forward...poor defending...
Carroll saved a goal scored one...lumbered around...no pace...missed 2 good chances...doesnt jump as high as he used to...
Pity Arnautovic got injured...but wise to take him off...
Anderson and Snodgrass subs ...different class put us on top again and created chances...
Glad to win with no major injuries...
Interesting tosee how/if MP uses Carroll for tge rest of the season...if fit...

arnie has a habit of pretending that every time he misses or misplaces a pass that it was because of some minor ailment that clears up 10 seconds later.

maybe pellers was as sick of seeing it as i am.

Rather Carroll on the pitch all day long instead of Perez who couldn’t kick snow off a fucking rope.

Re: West Ham v Birmingham - Official Match Thread
We're through to 4th round at least. Made hard work of it though.
Carrolls useless. It goes flat as a pancake when he's in the pitch. As NS said earlier, he's found his level, unless there's anything in it about swapping him with Uncle Fester Shelvey.
Antonio's gotta play on the right wing (how often have we said that). Diangana started there but he's left footed and couldn't go round anyone on the outside. He played well though.
Overall it was much ado about nothing today.

Jasnik 6:01 Sat Jan 5
Re: West Ham v Birmingham - Official Match Thread
Lets face it no one will buy Carroll. We are going to have to run down his contract down, so lets get anything we can get out of him till then.
Even if he becomes a monster again like he did for that one Arsenal game. We can't extend his contract as he is too broken.

Lertie Button 5:54 Sat Jan 5
Re: West Ham v Birmingham - Official Match Thread
Carroll for England, in fact just about anywhere but here.

Could do a job in the championship if he stayed fit, which he won't.

Could we dump him on Fat Frank
